Meet Ed Langlois

Mathias (Ed) Langlois applied with GLD Management for a Maintenance position at Northwinds Apartments in Mt Pleasant in April 2011.  Ed had been unemployed for several years and yearned for a job where he could feel productive and needed.

Little did he know, Michigan Works! had been discussing the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program with GLD Management staff.  Ed was already working with Michigan Works! with his training and career goals and also had some construction experience he could build from.  After reviewing Ed’s resume and speaking to Jessicca Sommer at Michigan Works! about the OJT possibilities, the company decided to give Ed a chance.

Ed started his On-the-Job Training at Northwinds Apartments on May 2, 2011.  During his OJT he received hands-on training in Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting, General Building and Grounds Maintenance.  Throughout his training, Ed expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the position and the assistance he received from Michigan Works!  Jennifer Helmer, Office Manager at Northwinds Apartments shared “Ed is doing a great job!  He’s a quick learner and the tenants love him”.

The OJT successfully ended on September 15, 2011 and he has continued his employment with Northwinds Apartments.
